Three Different Cotton Fabric Levels
When considering a cotton t-shirt to screen print there are three types of cotton fabrics available: Regular cotton, ringspun cotton and combed cotton. Here are the differences.
Regular Cotton
This is the least expensive and the least soft. This fabric is made by twisting the cotton fibers together into yarn.
Ring-Spun Cotton
This fabric is more refined than regular cotton which makes for a smoother, softer and thinner fabric but still durable. It is also more expensive than regular cotton.

Combed cotton
This is the highest level in softness and the most expensive. Combed cotton is produced by taking ring-spun cotton and combing out the imperfections which produces the finest and most soft finished cotton fabric.

Choosing the right cotton fabric for your screen printed t-shirt is simply a matter of determining what is most important factor for your order. Is it price? Choose regular cotton. Is it softness and comfort? Choose either ring-spun or combed cotton.
